GloryView…at The Grand Canyon
A few weeks ago I attended the Rugged Faith “Leaving a Legacy” camp in AZ. Our friend and ministry partner Jon Albert was kind enough to host this third annual Rugged Faith event at GloryView Ranch near Flagstaff, AZ.
The highlight of the event was a day spent at the Grand Canyon. Wow, what a spectacular setting for two teaching sessions. With the canyon as his backdrop, Jon spoke about Leaving a Legacy of Faith and Leaving a Legacy of Relationships.
With our group of 15 men sitting in awe of God’s creation, the Word of God came alive for me as Jon pointed out that the foundation of leaving a legacy begins with humility. Only when we surrender to God will He use us to show and tell others about HIS legacy.
As we viewed the canyon, Jon asked this question, “what does this tells us about God?” Creation speaks, it declares the glory of God. It confirms that this amazing creation has a creator.
The Legacy camp consisted of six teaching sessions over three nights and four days, plus lots of rich conversation with godly men. Great food, campfire time, and an adventure hike made this an amazing time to remember.
The closing session Saturday evening was by Chuck Stecker of a Chosen Generation in
Littleton, Colorado. Chuck brought a powerful message entitled “A Legacy Life.” He pointed out that we must remember the following; “You can’t teach what you don’t know, you can’t lead where you won’t go, you will only reproduce who you are.” These simple statements both convicted and encouraged me to seek God for wisdom, courage, and spiritual growth.
The closing ceremony was such a blessing for all the guys. We were invited to be a part of the regular Sunday morning church service at GloryView Church. After a warm welcome and a time of praise and worship, the Rugged Faith team presented a special baton to each attendee of the camp. Several men gave moving testimonies of why they attended and how they were blessed by their time at the Ranch and at the Grand Canyon.
If you missed this year’s camp, I encourage you save the date in April 2026 for next year’s Leaving a Legacy Camp as we plan to return to GloryView Ranch and the Grand Canyon.
