Land…

There is something spiritual about owning land. It gives a man a sense of belonging. It anchors you to something immovable. It gives you a purpose and a project that most modern men need. Land allows a man to create a home for his family. A place to raise your children and a place to put down roots that can extend for generations. It’s a place to come back too. It’s a place to create memories and a place to dream dreams.

Genesis tells us that God created land. In Genesis 1:28 God gave man dominion over the land. God said, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

One of the best investments a man can make is to buy land. Not only is it proven to be a good financial investment, it’s an investment in your physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Most men I know dream of owning land. Maybe a little place in the mountain where he can build a cabin. A place to hunt and fish. A place to cut firewood, own a tractor, move dirt, burn brush-piles, maybe even plant a garden. This urge is God-given. It is in the heart of most very man to protect, and provide for his family.

Private property offers a place to get away from the busyness of the world, an escape from the constant hum of traffic and congestion. A way to leave behind the light pollution of city life and experience the calm of a starry night sky. For men land offer solitude. A quiet place where I can talk to God, listen to the still small voice of God. A place to recharge and to consider what’s next. To meditate of God’s blessings and to consider the world His hands have made.
