The Anchor is the Answer
“Fearing that we might run aground somewhere on the rocks, they cast four anchors from the stern and wished for daybreak. “Acts 27:29
If you fear you may be drifting away from God, the Bible gives us great wisdom on how to avoid running aground, how to avoid being capsized by the waves of life. It begins with fear. Fear can be healthy in this case. We should have a healthy dose of fear when it comes to our sin. Sin and drift can wreck your life. We must periodically stop and evaluate our spiritual walk to ensure we are on the right course. Sin and temptation can come at us from every direction. It’s important to be anchored.
Four Anchors to Avoid Drift
The first anchor is God’s Word. The Bible is truth, it’s infallible, it’s wise and it’s unchanging.
As we read God’s word daily/regularly, we begin to grow in our likeness to God. Grow in our biblical character and grow in the fruit of the Spirit. Anchor two is the church. The Bible tells us to not neglect meeting together. We are the body of Christ. God uses the church to expand the Kingdom of God. The third anchor is the family. Family is a father, a monther and kids, plus extended family. The world is at war with the traditional family. The fourth anchor is a band of brothers who encourage, support, and hold us accountable. Stay anchored brothers.
1. Anchored in God’s Word
2. Anchored in the Church
3. Anchored in your family
4. Anchored in a band of brothers
