Men are a Target
Life can be challenging. There is so much fake news, deception and apathy in our world today. It’s hard to know what or who to believe without the wisdom of God’s Word.
I recently came across a great definition of Wisdom. It comes from Pastor Chase Davis in his new book “Offensive Christianity.” He says Wisdom is “Simply the capacity of men to assess the situation they face with the mind of Christ and to respond in the most prudent manner possible, given the circumstances.”
If we are wise, we will understand that men have a target on their backs. Satan is working overtime to take out the men. Why are the men a primary target of the Devil? He knows if he can take out the men, he can more easily get to the wives and children of that man.
Pastor Joby Martin says Satan uses 5 methods to knock out the men;
Pride, Worry, Isolation, Laziness, and Lust. Read 1. Peter 5:6-10 to learn more about these 5 ways mentioned.
The Christian life requires wisdom, focus, attention to details and follow through if we are going to stay in the game.
Men, we can’t be “Aimless” it’s a MAP for failure, a MAP for discontentment, A MAP to NO-where:
No Mission, No Ambition, No Purpose,
Men need a mission. A cause, a project outside their work that inspires them, helps others, and glorifies God. Ambition, drive or whatever you want to call it is equally important for men. We can’t just read and ponder on a mission, we must act. Men are called to build and to protect, to act is to be a man.
Men without a purpose become aimless and listless, their health can suffer and those around them can be caught up in their merry-go-round of emotions.
We can’t be “Listless.” Without a to-do-list men become; lazy,
Indifferent, passive, apathetic, and weak. Aimless and listless men become bitter and resentful, blaming others for their problems.
What are you striving for? What is your target in life? Is it money or recognition? Do you even have a target, a goal you want to reach and accomplish?
The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:33 to “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all the rest of these will be added unto you.”
When men seek God first, they grow in spiritual maturity and are better able to avoid Satan’s attacks. Pride fades into humility, worry diminishes, isolation is replaced with brotherhood, meaningful work becomes the norm, and lust, through never completely removed from a man’s life, will be controlled by the Spirit.
Focus on your calling to battle bitterness and resist resentment.
Your target is Jesus. Seek Him first. Live with eternity in mind.
